English: Modern track in a medieval hollow way, Gander Down This modern track is located within a much older "hollow way", which may originally have formed part of a major ridgeway leading to the south-east from Winchester. The route is recorded in Saxon charters and remained in use during the medieval period. The South Downs Way (National Trail) also follows the route of this hollow way across Gander Down. |
