In style and form I belongto the German Romantic School of Schumann.But I have also imbibed much from the sourceof national music. That is, I have made useof the rich treasures of Norwegian folk melo-dies, and it is from that hitherto little usedemanation of the soul of the people that I havecreated a national musical art.
