Athree per cent ointment of europhen in vaselinehad an admirable effect in burns of the firstand second degree, and in four cases of ulcerat-ing lupus, its cicatrizant action was strikinglyexhibited. In the treatment of chancroids, ofwhich thirty cases came under observation,europhen proved a perfect and effective substi-tute for iodoform. It was applied in the formof the powder two or three times daily, and, ifcrusts formed, in connection with a one per centointment. The authors favorable experiencewith europhen led them to recommend it in thetreatment of moist papules on the genitals andtertiary ulcerations, best in the form of five toten per cent ointments. Subcutaneous injec-tions of a one per cent solution in oil also hada favorable influence in tertiary syphilis, withor without the internal administration of io-dide of potash ; and unlike the injection of mer-curials, they were found perfectly free from painand irritation.
