Modern coin: Replica of an Edwardian penny / cut halfpenny
Description
English: An incomplete replica of a silver struck / hammered cut half penny of Edward I (AD 1279 to AD 1307) through to Edward III (AD 1327 to AD 1377). [ ]SWELL ON[ ] reverse type depicting a voided short cross with four joined pellets in each quarter. Mint uncertain.

This replica coin is imitating the sterling pennies of Edward I-III, albeit using a reverse type consistent with the short cross pennies issued between the reigns of Henry II (AD 1180 to AD 1247). Mint and moneyer uncertain. Coin appears to be silver plated with a copper core.

Obverse type: Crowned head facing forwards. Trifoliate crown.
Obverse inscription: EDW[ ]NS hYB
Reverse type: voided short cross with pellet ends. Four joined pellets in each quarter.
Reverse inscription: [ ]SWELL ON[ ]
