Title
Modern Toy Wristwatch
Description
English: Copper alloy toy. Toy wristwatch, formed from two components of pressed metal: the outermost includes a sub-rectangular frame with a winding knob modelled in low relief and with simple scrolled ornament; with an indented back plate fitting snugly into it and revealed by a cut-out in the display face as an oval dial. There are four tiny triangular lugs at the corners of the front part which are bent back to retain the back. The sharp stubs of clasps or loops relate to a strap [now lost]. This presumably represents a lady's watch, and would thus be a toy for a girl. Wrist watches entered mass production in the 1850s, and their utility was finally appreciated during the First World War. Suggested date: Modern, 1900-1940.

Height: 22.1mm, Width: 31mm, Thickness (overall): 3.2mm, Weight: 2.38gms
