Title
Modern Tobacco Jar Lid Knob
Description
English: A complete cast copper alloy knob, probably from the lid of a tobacco jar. Probably nineteenth century. Length: 21.0mm; width: 17.9mm and 18.9mm thick. Weight: 10.43g.

This hollow knob is in the form of a boy’s head with distinct facial features. The boy wears a cap or bonnet. On the underside, the rim around the aperture has a flat finished surface and it is possible that the knob would have been soldered to the lid.

The object generally has a mid-green patina.
