A rank-frequency plot for words in the novel Moby-Dick.

English: Frequency of words in Moby Dick, showing the ten most common words, and the 21st ("whale"). About 44% of the words occur only once, are hapax legomena (red, e.g. "matrimonial") and about 17% occur only twice, are dis legomena (blue, e.g. "dexterity"). Words are counted from Project Gutenberg text at http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/2701
