Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Moat at Lower Strensham A moat has survived at Lower Strensham on the site of the former Strensham Castle. Here the northern side of the moat is viewed with the tower of Strensham on the top of rising ground in the background. A licence was granted to built a castle or fortified moated manor house in 1388. The building was probably destroyed in the 17th Century after the Civil War as it was a Royalist stronghold. It is likely that much of the stone was used for the building of the nearby Moat Farm farmhouse. The site is on private land, except for where a footpath passes beside the moat pictured here.
