English: The building on the left, at the time named as House No. 23 (today: 10 Kronacher Strasse) was the ancestral seat of the firm D. Bamberger in Mitwitz, Upper Franconia, Kingdom of Bavaria. The building in 1805 got erected by the cattle dealer Gottlieb Bamberger (1770–1834; circumcision name: בן שלמה, ben Salomon), whereas the enterprise in about 1837 (not 1825) got founded by his son David Bamberger (1811–1890). Anton Bamberger (1886–1950) was the last Jewish citizen who got born in Mitwitz. David Bamberger was the last Jewish citizen who lived in Mitwitz. He closed the ancestral seat of D. Bamberger in 1884. He left Mitwitz in 1887 and followed his sons Philipp (1858–1919) and Friedrich "Fritz" (1862–1942) to Lichtenfels where they already had developed a branch office and warehouse since 1875 which from 1884 served as the new headquarter of the enterprise. – The building No. 23 in Mitwitz and its adjacent buildings No. 22 and No. 24 burned down in 1908, so today it looks quite different, especially the style of the roof. To compare and identify its location it helps to use the town's map and to regard the layout of buildings, the adjacent buildings and their layout of windows, doors and roofs. – In the background the spire of the Protestant Jakobskirche (church).
Deutsch: Das Gebäude zur Linken, im oberfränkischen Mitwitz seinerzeit als Haus 23 bezeichnet (heute: Kronacher Straße 10), war der ursprüngliche Stammsitz der Firma D. Bamberger in Mitwitz. Das Haus wurde im Jahr 1805 durch den Viehhändler Gottlieb Bamberger (1770–1834; Beschneidungsname: בן שלמה, ben Salomon) errichtet, während das Unternehmen etwa 1837 (nicht 1825) durch seinen Sohn David Bamberger (1811–1890) gegründet wurde. Anton Bamberger (1886–1950) war der letzte in Mitwitz geborene jüdische Bürger, während sein Großvater David Bamberger der letzte jüdische Einwohner von Mitwitz war. Er schloss den dortigen Stammsitz seines Unternehmens im Jahr 1884. Er verließ Mitwitz im Jahr 1887 und folgte seinen Söhnen Philipp (1858–1919) und Friedrich „Fritz“ (1862–1942) nach Lichtenfels, wo diese bereits seit 1875 eine Niederlassung entwickelt und aufgebaut hatten, die ab 1884 als neuer Unternehmensstammsitz fungierte. – Das Haus Nr. 23 in Mitwitz und dessen angrenzende Häuser Nr. 22 und Nr. 24 brannten im Jahr 1908 nieder. Das wiedererrichtete heutige Gebäude erscheint baulich verändert, insbesondere dessen Dachform. Zur Lokalisierung des Standorts des ehemaligen Gebäudes ist es hilfreich, sowohl den Ortsplan, die Anordnung der Gebäude, die benachbarten Häuser und deren Fensteranordnung, Türen und Dachformen zu beachten. – Im Hintergrund ist die evangelisch-lutherische Jakobskirche zu erkennen.
