Die Gebirgszüge der Erdteile sollten durch Terrainerhebungen, dieOzeane durch Wasserflächen oder wenigstens gehölzfreie Wiesen gekennzeichnet sein. Der wesentliche Vorzug einer solchen der wirklichen Lage entsprechenden An-ordnung besteht darin, daß jede erkünstelte Florengebietsabgrenzung vermieden wird.In der Wirklichkeit sind die Florengebiete fast nie scharf abgegrenzt und vieleTypen des einen greifen in ein oder mehrere andere benachbarte über.
