Über seinen Wert istin der Deutschen Obstbauzeitung, Heft 2, Jahrgang 1911 ausführlich berichtet.Heute möchte ich nur auf die Tragbarkeit und die Ursache, weshalb mancheschwarze Maulbeeren keine oder nur wenige Früchte bringen, aufmerksam machen. Die Maulbeeren gehören nach dem Linneschen System in die 21. Klasse,deren Mitglieder männliche und weibliche Blüten auf einer Pflanze vereinigen, wiebei Haselnüssen, Buchen, Walnüssen, Nadelhölzern. Man könnte aber die Morusbei manchen Bäumen auch der 22. Klasse zuteilen, von der es heißt, männlicheBlüten sitzen auf der einen und weibliche Blüten auf der anderen Pflanze, wie beiWeiden, Pappeln und Taxus, Es gibt nämlich bei den echten großfrüchtigen schwarzen Maulbeeren solche,die nur weibliche Blüten hervorbringen, und dies ist die allein richtige Sorte, wertzum Anpflanzen, und es gibt andere, die fast nur männliche Blüten zeigen und Nr. 21. Monis nigra, die schwarze Maulbeere. 203
