n. Die schnelle Ab-nahme der Hartholzvorräte Nordamerikas legt uns trotz der bisherigen Mißerfolgeeine Fortsetzung der Anbauversuche mit der Schwarznuß, als der wertvollsten Laub-holzart nahe. Die frostempfindlichere und infolge ihrer weniger schönen Schaftform wenigerwertvolle juglans regia (Europäische Walnuß)zeigt im Forstbezirk Heilbronn als 15 jährige Pflanzung auf tiefgründigem Lehmboden(Eichenstandort I. Bon.) bis jetzt langsames Jugendwachstum. Carya alba (Weiße Hickory).Im Forstbezirk Gomaringen sind von einer 26 Jahre alten 8 a großen Anbau-fläche nur noch Reste vorhanden. Eine 21jährige ca. 32 a große Anbaufläche zeigtdort eine mittlere Höhe von 7—8 m und 5 cm mittlerer Stärke. Die Beständehaben in den letzten 10 Jahren unter mangelnder Pflege stark gelitten, so daß voll-gültige Schlüsse aus ihrem Zustand nicht gezogen werden dürfen. Nach den ausPreußen vorliegenden Erfahrungen ist im Dickungsalter eine Pflege der Holzart durch 4 50 H. Holland: 1912.

Nach den Angaben des Porst-amts Hohenheim beträgt: die Scheitelhöhe 32 m, die Länge des astreinen Schaftes 9 m, der Durch-messer in Brusthöhe 89 cm, die Derbholzmasse 10,5 fm. Nr. 21. Anbauversuche mit fremdl. Holzarten in Württemberg. 51
