Chionanthus virginica. (Gärtnerlehianstalt Dahlem.) Ich habe den Sachverhalt untersucht, dieser »kernlose« Apfel ist nichts Neues,wenn er auch manchmal als etwas ganz Besonderes von den Baumschulen angebotenwird. Koehne, Dippel und neuerdings Schneider führen ihn in ihren Dendrologienunter den eingangs angegebenen Namen. Er ist keine Schönheit, aber doch höchstinteressant, und deshalb wollte ich die Dendrologen hierauf aufmerksam machen. Königsberg i. Pr. Kaeber. 2QO Kleine Mitteilungen. 1911. Bei der Verlegung der Königlichen Gärtnerlehranstalt vom Wildparknach Dahlem bei Berlin, Oktober 1903, nahm ich sie als kleine Pflänzchen mit,und es haben sich diese auf hiesigem sandigen Lehmboden vorzüglich entwickelt undsich jedes Jahr als überaus dankbare Blüher erwiesen. Besonders in kleineren An-lagen sollten ihnen Ehrenplätze eingeräumt werden. Es empfiehlt sich, Chionanthus virginica, um reiches Blühen herbei-zuführen, auf ein- bis zweijährige Sämlinge von Fraxinus Ornus im Frühjahrunter Glas zu veredeln. Reiser müssen von Mutterpflanzen genommen werden, diesich durch Blütenwilligkeit auszeichnen, ein Umstand, der bei Veredelung nicht alleinder Frucht- sondern auch der Blütensträucher vollste Beachtung finden muß. Malus floribunda zeichnet sich ferner durch seine, überaus zahlreich er-scheinenden Zierfrüchte aus. Berlin-Dahlem. Th. Echtetmeyer. Polygonum baldschuanicum Reg.
