Dracaena Draco L., Der Drachenbaum.Altes, etwa 20 m hohes Exemplar bei Icod de los vinos auf Teneiifa. 282 Dr. Oscar Burchard: 1911. 1000 m hinauf (in den Adejibergen) ziert (Abb. i). Das höchste mir bekannteExemplar dieser interessanten Art, die ihre nächsten Verwandten in Südafrika hat,steht am Absturz des barranco de Ximenez i) bei Santa Cruz und besitzt 11 bis12 m Höhe, während der wohl größte mir bekannte Stock am NordwestrandeTenerifas bei dem Orte Buenavista steht, der 45 m Umfang hat, ziemlich kreis-förmig gewachsen ist und ca. 150 qm Fläche bedeckt. Das sind Pflanzenbilderurwüchsiger Kraft, welche wir hier finden. Beim weiteren Umblick im Tale finden wir meist bald auch kleinere odergrößere Exemplare des Drachenbaumes Dracaena Draco L, (Abb. 2), jenermerkwürdigen und schon oft beschriebenen, etwas vorweltlich aussehenden baum-förmigen Liliacee, die gemeinsam mit dem cordon so hervorragend charakteristischist für die Tiefenregion dieser Inseln, doch sei bemerkt,
