Von Acer Negundo war schon seit Jahren eine große Anzahl bunt-gerandeter Formen bekannt und im Handel, von den einblättrigen Ahornarten warenjedoch gerandete Formen bis vor kurzer Zeit gänzlich unbekannt. Wir können nunauf unserer Farbentafel drei buntrandige Formen vorführen, die eine wertvolle Be-reicherung unserer Gärten darstellen dürften. Acer rubrum magnificum Schwerin (forma nova) ist eine Form, bei dersich nicht, wie beim Typus, im Herbst die ganze Blattoberfläche fast gleichzeitig,erst punktweise, dann ineinander verschwimmend mit roter Herbstfarbe überzieht,sondern wo das Rot am Blattrande beginnt und nur ganz allmählich sich der Basiszu mit stets scharf abgesetzter Grenze
