The lesson affords an interesting study-on the mind and thought of the heathenin contrast with Christian life and be-lief. This great king, who had oftenprayed to his gods, and knew that hisprayers were of no avail, looked upon attending suffering, when the final out-come would be sure victory for him. But there is a difference between thegods of the Assyrians and the God ofIsrael. In the hour of greatest needIsraels God never failed.
