It would beunsafe, to open a mission here withoutcounting the cost of maintaining acouple, rent free, at $1,000 per year, withan additional sum of $100 per year foreach child in the family. A slight varia-tion would occur as to locality and thehabits of the missionaries. The Swissmission, one among the most economic-al in Africa, pays its workers on theforegoing basis, while the Church ofEngland pays its ministers $2,000 peryear each.
