Perhaps, too, rich-es has been the cause of severing friend-ship and association of brethren andfriends as no other factor in life, evendown to this day. Then Lot was given an offer. Hiseagerness to get ahead was so keen thathe lost all sense of deference to his uncle,saw a chance to get rich quick, andmoved into the fertile valley and splen-did pastures about Sodom and Gomorrah. They are allured by thatworldly wise counsel, I must live andsupport those dependent upon me, and They all are doing that way. Tomake a success in business and get aheadin the world drowns out other noblerconsiderations and the tent is pitched inthe very centers of influence which robthem of spiritual life and power. Theyare there to take advantage of worldlyadvantages and not to save, a lost world.Is it any wonder that before life is over,they always lose spiritually, and some-times temporally before life is oer, justlike Lot did? God does want men to goout into the world to preach His Gospel;but He does not want them to go out,hiding the Gospel or making it second-ary to anything else in the world.
