Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Miracle Prayer Wheel Church of God in Christ, 894 Glenwood Avenue at Kehr Street, Buffalo, New York, May 2020. Designed by architect J. S. Haussauer, this simple and austere Gothic-style building (the tower once had a crenellated parapet, but that was removed in the mid-2010s) was first home to the Glenwood Avenue Church of Christ, which was founded in 1907 as an offshoot of the Richmond Avenue Church of Christ designed to bring the faith to residents of the rapidly urbanizing Humboldt Park neighborhood; they met in a rented storefront a block south of here before the construction of their permanent church building four years later on land donated by the Blanchard Lumber Company. The congregation's membership peaked in 1921, but it remained an active church until at least the late 1990s. Miracle Prayer Wheel Church of God in Christ has occupied the building since about 2012.
