Description
Deutsch: aufgeschlossener Massenkalk eines Brandungsfelsens mit rudimentärer Abrasionsplattform. Ein Naturdenkmal, Typlokalität im Dorf Heldenfingen (Gerstetten) eines untermiozänen Meeres zwischen Alb und Alpen (Gesteinsschichten der „Oberen Meeresmolasse“, OMM, des Molassebeckens, heute in ca. 585 m NN). Der Felsen ist übersät mit Löchern fossiler, mariner Bohrmuscheln, „Pholaden“, deren Art noch nicht gesichert ist. Der Aufschluss in der östlichen Schwäbischen Alb ist der wichtigste Beleg für eine im Gelände als markante Stufe streckenweise erkennbare, nachgewiesene Klifflinie, welche die Schwäbische Alb vom Klettgau bis zu den Impaktgesteinen des Nördlinger Rieses bei Dischingen über ca. 225 km von West nach Ost mittig durchzieht.
English: Outcrop of non-bedded limestone of a cliffed coast. A Naturdenkmal, type area of a Lower Miocene sea between Alb and Alps („Upper Marine Molasse“ bed of the Molasse basin, recent 585 m). The cliff wall is perforated by borings of marine bivalve mollusca (Pholadidae). The cliff is verified and documented from the west of the Swabian Alb to the Lower Franconian Alb, except below the meteoritic impactite of the Nördlinger Ries. The Pholad borings measure 0,5-2 cm at the top of the rock and 3 cm at the bottom. The borings obviously represent several generations.
