English: Underground mining could be extremely dangerous. If a tunnel filled with gas, miners needed to get to the surface as quickly as possible so that they wouldn't suffocate. This photo, staged for the photographer, shows four men rescuing a stricken miner from below ground. It was taken by Kinsey & Kinsey near Grand Forks, Yukon Territory, sometime between 1898 and 1906.
