Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Mine entrance near Crag Foot There are many old iron ore mines on the slopes of Warton Crag above Crag Foot. Locally, they are referred to as the paint mines presumably because the red ore was used in paint manufacture. Many years ago some caving friends said that their ochreous footprints on the road outlasted days of rain after exploring inside Crag Foot Mine.
