Description Repair crews inspect the hold that was ripped open in the hull of the amphibious assault ship USS TRIPOLI (LPH-10) when the ship struck an Iraqi mine. The TRIPOLI, now in dry dock for repairs, hit the mine on February 18 while serving as a mine-clearing platform in the northern Persian Gulf during Operation Desert Storm.
