Description
English: Mill Lade (Excelsior Mill}, Omagh. This is the start of the man-made cut located at the falls on the Camowen River near Campsie to service the Excelsior Mill on the Old Mountjoy Road. There was probably an earlier mill on the same site about the 1750s which was indicated on a 17th Century map of Omagh and in 1820 a brewery was built on the same site and it is possible that this lade pre-dated the brewery because a supply of water far exceeded the brewer's needs.

Note: A lade is a watercourse, especially one that carries water to a mill.

The latter is often called a mill lade. (Scottish in origin) The English equivalent is a Leat or Mill Leat.
