Description

Wood carving, in Mill Hill Unitarian Chapel, City Square, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. Architects Bowman & Crowther of Manchester, building opened 1848. Showing carved wooden bracket on ceiling.

The wood carvers credited for the work were Edmund Bates (b.ca.1816) and James Adams of Leeds. The firm Bates & Adams flourished as carvers and gilders 1845-1851, working from 5 Gascoigne Yard, Boar Lane, and 9 Basinghall Street, Leeds.
