Description
English: Milecastle 42 and Cawfield Crags, Hadrian's Wall. Milecastles were spaced every Roman mile along Hadrian's Wall; Milecastle 42 is one of the better preserved and was built, unusually, on a steep slope. See http://www.magic.gov.uk/rsm/26064.pdf for more information.
