a decorazione parca e severa autorizzanolattribuzione comune a Bramante, benché nessun documento sicuro la confermi.Anzi in una lettera del penultimo di giugno 1497 che il Duca indirizzava al segre-tario Marchesino Stanga si raccomandava « de havere tutti li piò periti se tro-vino ne la architettura per esaminare et fare un modello per la fazada de S. Maria dele Gratie », ma di Bramante non si faceva ricordo. Ad ogni modo alla nuova fac- 114 ITALIA ARTISTICA ciata si pose mano in quellepoca e il fatto di non esserne rimasta che la porta sipuò spiegare con la caduta della signoria del Moro. Le notizie son più sicure per quanto riguarda lintervento del maestro dallerisorse genialissime a prò della fabbrica della can<inica di S. Ambrogio. Sembra che nel 1492 Lodovico il Moro gli avesse affidato il compito di ri-cominciare il lavoro da capo troncando ogni discussione su quella fabbrica.
