e Cesariano, Bartolomeo Suardi detto il Bramantino — del quale lAm-brosiana conserva linteressante albo di disegni delle rovine di Roma — e, coninflusso men diretto da Bramante, Giov. Antonio Amadeo, Cristoforo Solari, Tom-maso Rodari, Cristoforo Rocchi, Lazzaro Palazzi, Vincenzo dellOrto e qualche altro. I20 ITALIA ARTISTICA Le opere loro difettano della chiarezza di concetti e delleleganza sapiente ecastigatissima di Bramante che creava capolavori con la geniale combinazione dilinee e, come pel S. Satiro, con mezzi ristretti, fra vincoli quasi insormontabili. Al Bramantino da qualcuno, a Francesco da Briosce dal Mongeri, si attribuisceledicola trivulziana che fa da fronte alla chiesa di S. Nazaro a Milano. Fu eretta nel1518 come assicura liscrizione sul fregio della porta e poiché dagli Annali del Duomosi sa che appunto un anno prima il Briosco aveva ottenuto dai fabbricieri del Duomo,presso cui era a stipendio, di recarsi a lavorare nella chiesa di S. Nazaro a richiesta ^ 5 *^

CASA DEI CASTANI — IL CORTILE. <lel maresciallo Gian (riacomo Trivulzio — insieme a uno stuolo di scalpellini —pare indubitato che lattribuzione del Mongeri sia la giusta. Il Burckhardt, per con-fronto delle linee semplici e un po povere di questo edificio con quelle della casagià Landriani in via Borgonuovo — che a sua volta ha qualche rapporto col chiostrodi S. Maria presso S. Celso eretto su disegno di Cristoforo Solari ■—, attribuisce aquestultimo la stessa cappella Trivulzio. Ma il fatto che nel 1504, tanti anni primadi questa costruzione, il Solari lavorava pel Trivulzio — non si sa bene in checosa — di fronte alia notizia ricordata dagli Annali del Duomo non è sufficienteper diminuire lattendibilità dellattribuzione al Briosco (che non va confuso conBenedetto, scultore) della cappella in questione.
