ביישוב קיימת אכסניה שנפתחה בשנת 2004. באכסניה ישנו 'מרכז סיור ולימוד מדרשת הגולן', המספק שירות הדרכת טיולים לכלל ישראל.

רוב תושבי חיספין מתפרנסים מהוראה במוסדות התורניים שביישוב, בטבריה וצפת, ישנם מספר חקלאים והיתר עצמאים.

מאגר המים בני ישראל מדרשת הגולן שוכנת ליד "מאגר בני ישראל", הגדול מבין מאגרי המים בגולן. המאגר הוקם בין השנים 1980 ל-1984. נפחו 7.0 מיליון ממ"ק, גובה המים בשנה גשומה - 15 מטר, רום טופ 415 +, אגן הניקוז: כנרת, אורך הסוללה 2300 מ'.

לאחר הקמת היישוב חיספין, האזור נוקז ונבנה בו סכר ענק המנצל את מרבצי החרסית המצויים בתשתיתו כחומר אוטם לחלחול מים. הסכר אוגר את מי השיטפונות הזורמים במסלול של נחל אל-על.

השם שניתן למאגר מנציח את האתר שלפנים היה קרוי "קובור בני איסראיל". שם זה הדביקו התושבים הבדואים לשדות הרוג'ומים (ערימות ענק של אבנים עליהם יש דולמנים). הבדואים שלא מצאו הסבר לגלי האבן הענקיים שהיו פזורים במרחב, זיהו אותם כמפעלי הקבורה של בני ישראל הקדומים הכול יכולים ועל כן כינוי כך את המקום.
