English: BR (Derby) "Heavyweight" Class 114 Local Passenger/Cross Country 3-car dmu No. E56006 (Class 148 in refurbished pale grey and blue livery) and No.E50015 (Class 114 in green livery) at the Midland Railway Centre, Butterley, 06/98.Although designated for Local Passenger services, this class was the only such dmu class with long frames (64.5ft) compared to the short frames of all other Local Passenger classes (57.5ft) which implies, in my view, that they might have been intended for Cross Country and inter-urban duties (such sets also having long frames). Scanned photograph taken with a Miranda MS-1N. |
