Description
English: Soldiers and trucks on a muddy road, during World War I. This image shows a very wet and muddy road, bordered by high banks of earth. On the left-hand side of the road there is a convoy of trucks stretching into the distance. On the other, a long line of soldiers march in the opposite direction. Some are pushing soldiers atop small carts, possibly the wounded.

It is presumed that 'Middlesex' is the Middlesex Regiment. The Middlesex Regiment were involved in a lot of the heavy fighting during World War I.
