Summary
[edit]DescriptionMid 19th century 'business card' from East Saginaw, Michigan found in daguerreotype case (8222247804).jpg |
This small card, measuring ca 10cm x 6.5cm, may give us some great clues as to where our daguerreotype came from, and when. East Saginaw was only established in 1850 and originally went under the name Buena Vista. It would appear from a quick Google search that Pettibone was a well known figure in the area. Further research on the names and addresses may help pin down a good estimate of date. Though I'm currently of the opinion that the poems may have been written somewhat later than the image was taken (see poem below). |
