Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Microcline (Var.: Amazonite)
Locality: R. A. Kosnar claim, Yucca Hill, Steven's Ranch, Lake George, Park County, Colorado, USA (Locality at mindat.org)
Size: 9.0 x 5.2 x 4.8 cm.
This is a classic specimen from one of the most storied and well known districts in Colorado. The pegmatites near the Lake George area of Colorado have produced what collectors and dealers know to be the finest Amazonite specimens from the standpoint of color, quality, wonderful display specimens and excellent associations. This piece is a large, sharp, well-formed, blue-green color Amazonite crystal with a distinctive and somewhat lustrous white "cap". The best of these "white cap" Amazonites are highly valued among collectors, and seldom are they ever found in the large pegmatite region around Lake George, Colorado. This specimen was collected nearly 30 years ago (July 1980), when Richard Kosnar found some of the finest color Amazonite from Colorado extant. Ex. Richard Kosnar Collection.
