Description
English: The circuit map that integrates transcription regulation and microRNA functions is constructed based on existing data. A core set of TFs regulates themselves, as well as the expression of microRNAs. MicroRNAs, whose expressions are positively regulated, are frequently associated with self-renewal, whereas those negatively regulated in ESCs are associated with differentiation. In addition, microRNAs feedback into the transcription circuitry through post-transcriptional modulation of their TF targets, controlling their levels and activity. Several other microRNAs appear to have roles in either self-renewal or differentiation, but their upstream regulators have yet been identified.
