Description
English: German press photographer Mickey Bohnacker (1928–2017) checking his camera during a meeting with General Lucius D. Clay (1898–1978) in Frankfurt am Main, undated. Clay at that time visited Frankfurt as a civilian, where he from 1947 to 1949 served as military governor of the US occupied zone. In 1948/49 he initiated "Berlin Airlift" (Berliner Luftbrücke) for which Frankfurt's Rhein-Main Airport served as the starting point of Frankfurt Air Corridor from southwest through Soviet occupied zone to West-Berlin.
Deutsch: Der deutsche Fotojournalist Mickey Bohnacker (1928–2017) überprüft während eines Treffens mit General Lucius D. Clay (1898–1978) in Frankfurt am Main seine Kamera, undatiert. Clay war zu dieser Zeit in zivil zu Besuch in Frankfurt, wo er von 1947 bis 1949 als Militärgouverneur der US-amerikanischen Besatzungszone fungiert und 1948/49 die Berliner Luftbrücke initiiert hatte, für die der Rhein-Main-Flughafen in Frankfurt am Main von Südwesten aus den Ausgangspunkt des Frankfurt Air Corridor durch die Sowjetische Besatzungszone nach West-Berlin bildete.
