Description Latvian Army and Michigan Army National Guard Soldiers perform a chair-tossing Latvian tradition to celebrate Brigade Commander Col. Ilmars Lejins’ birthday during Exercise Allied Spirit VI at Hohenfels, Germany, March 19, 2017. Allied Spirit VI provides a unique opportunity for MIARNG and Latvian Soldiers to exercise tactical interoperability and test secure communications with NATO allies in Europe. Approximately 2,770 participants from 12 nations took part in the March 8-31, 2017, exercise. Latvia and Michigan are partnered in the State Partnership Program.
