English: ABOUT MICHEL LALONDE

My name is Michel Philippe Lalonde, and I was born and raised in the City of Greater Sudbury, more specifically Val Caron & Hanmer. I am the proud father of a beautiful one and a half year old daughter, and happily married to the love of my life, Francine, since August 2017. My parents, Luc & Jo-Anne Lalonde, have instilled strong family values, and the importance of hard work and dedication in life.

I work currently as the Manager of my parents business, Valley East Snap Fitness, and I am the owner of Sound.wav Rentals, a local DJ/Equipment Rental Services business established in 2014. I am also an employee of Rogers Radio (KiSS 105.3 & 92.7 Rock), working in Promotions and as a Live-on-Location technician.

Being actively involved with growing and improving our community has always been a priority for me. In my University years, I volunteered at the Valley East Youth Center, helping these youth with their musical talents. I returned to my high school, College Notre-Dame, to assist with their music program, Le Franco Bistro. For the last 3 years, I have been a Committee Member of Valley East Days, the largest free family festival in Northern Ontario, dealing with all online aspects of the festival and promotion, as well as other important aspects of the functionality of this event. With my positions of Manager & Owner, I have been able to assist charities with fundraising efforts (ei. NOFCC with the KiSS Father Daughter Ball & Soiree Gold, The White Owl Residence, the Good Neighbours Valley East Food Bank, etc).

My political interests started in High School at College Notre-Dame, with being the class Vice-President in 9th grade, to the school Vice-President in Grade 12th. I continued my studies in History & Sociology at Laurentian University, where I graduated in 2013 with a 4 year combined specialization Bachelors Degree. During my 5 year period at Laurentian University, I participated in Model Parliament (a unique opportunity offers to only Laurentian University & Queen's University students in Canada, to spent a "mock session" day inside the House of Commons in Ottawa). I was lucky to participate for 5 years with this program, and gained valuable experience with civil and factual debating.

I look forward to hearing from and working with the residents of Ward 5!
