Summary
[edit]This graphic, from Michel et al., 2022, shows how the reconstructed changes of w:Atlantic Multidecadal Variability over the past millennium at first match the w:climate model simulations but diverge sharply in the 20th century. This could imply a trend in the w:Atlantic meridional overturning circulation which is not replicated in the climate models, potentially leaving it less stable than commonly projected.
The graphic is obtained from the paper's "Supplementary Information" file.
