English: Michael Kirk, traditional butcher in Wolverhampton Established as a family business in 1934 in Woolpack Street, this may be the smallest butcher's shop in the city, but I would say it is the best*. Google his name and Wolverhampton for an extensive list of awards and recommendations. Here you will buy superb beef from named Staffordshire farms ( at Tixall today), and other locally sourced meat. Home cured bacon is sold, and home made pies and sausage, and cooked meats prepared next door (just visible beyond the shop). Don't expect to pay the earth, either. Superb Tixall beef shin has been on sale this month for less than some supermarkets want for standard beef mince. Special offers are always available. Be prepared to queue most of the time for friendly and helpful service. Need I say more?
No? Well I will! Try the website here http://www.porkiepies.com/whole.htm to find out what Michael gave personally to The Queen Mother on her 100th birthday. :-) As they say, "This is how meat used to taste when Granny was growing up and how it should still taste today!"
