"Launching of the Steamboat Mexoil. First vessel launched sideways." Violet, Louisiana, 1918.

Launch was 14 Feb 1918; tanker steamer ship built by Alabama-New Orleans Transportation Company for the Mexican Petroleum Corporation. Per listing in "Shipping: A Weekly Journal of the Marine Trades", publication date 2 March 1918 [1]
Note: Might have been first side launch at this location or this type of ship, but certainly not the first in history. See for example File:Duc de Bourgogne launch 1751.jpg
