Le pont de Meung-sur-Loire. C'est un pont suspendu routier (D18). La construction du pont initial à péage fut décidée par ordonnance royale du 17 avril 1834 (Louis-Philippe). La concession du pont a été faite aux banquiers lyonnais Brouzet, Boumardot et Cazenave pour une durée de 99 ans. Sa construction a coûté 75 000 francs de l'époque. Ce pont fut reconstruit trois fois, mais les appuis sont toujours les fondations de l'ouvrage actuel. Détruit en 1940. 15 juin 1940. "La population de Baule est troublée par l'arrivée d'une dépêche enjoignant aux services postaux de partir immédiatement. (..) Des officiers, accompagnés de femmes semblent fuir avec une hâte vraiment scandaleuse! (…) 16 juin. Dimanche. Les départs continuent pendant la journée du dimanche. (…). Quelques personnes qui n'ont pu trouver de voitures, des vieillards et d'assez nombreux étrangers restent seuls. Le soir à 18 heures, les avions circulent dans le ciel. Ils survolent la ville de Meung; des explosions retentissent; nous voyons des nuages de fumées (…). 18 heures trente. Une formidable explosion ébranle les maisons de Baule; les vitres de la salle paroissiale sont brisées. Un énorme champignon de fumée s'élèvent lentement dans le ciel; le pont de Meung vient de sauter." (Cahiers de l'abbé Pasty). Le pont sera remis en service en 1948.
It is a suspension bridge road (D18). The construction of the initial toll bridge was decided by royal decree of 17 April 1834 (Louis Philippe). The concession of the bridge was made to bankers Lyon Brouzet, Boumardot Cazenave and for a period of 99 years. It cost 75,000 francs at the time. This bridge was rebuilt three times, but the support is still the foundation of the existing structure. Destroyed in 1940. June 15, 1940. "The people of Baule is disturbed by the arrival of a telegram ordering the Postal Service to leave immediately. (..) Officers, accompanied by women seem to run away with a really outrageous wait! (...) June 16 Sunday. Departures continue during the day Sunday. (...). Some people who could not find cars, old enough and many foreigners are left alone. Evening at 6:00 p.m., aircraft traveling in the sky. They fly over the city of Meung, explosions sound, we see clouds of smoke (...). 6:30 p.m.. A tremendous explosion shook houses Baule, the windows of the church hall are broken. A huge mushroom of smoke rise slowly in the sky, the bridge of Meung just blew. " (Cahiers de l'Abbe Pasty). The bridge will be put into operation in 1948. |
