English: Metra 308 is a passenger EMD F7A locomotive known as a “cab unit.” It was built in 1949 for the Chicago & North Western as freight locomotive 4083C and was used in general freight service. In 1961 it was rebuilt for use pulling bi-level commuter trains in the Chicago area and renumbered C&NW 414. It ended its career hauling ballast trains for Metra and was donated to the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, Illinois in 1999. |
