Summary
[edit]DescriptionMethuen Arms Hotel, Corsham - geograph.org.uk - 1736644.jpg |
English: Methuen Arms Hotel, Corsham On the B3353 which serves as Corsham's main street, the Methuen Arms or its predecessor has served the traveller for many a long year.
"Apart from the Georgian architecture, the ancient stone walls, mullioned windows and oak beams of The Carving Room date back to the fourteenth century and this section was originally a nunnery. The other wings and buildings around the courtyard at the rear of the building date back from the 1600s but parts may be earlier. The nunnery became a public house in 1608 and was known as the Red Lion by 1637." The above was copied from: http://www.methuenarms.co.uk/ |
