scene.The regulations laid down by the commissioners, which appropriated the seatsto ladies only, were strictly complied with, and throughout the long line therewas hardly a break in the rule of ladies to the front. Seen fiomthe easterndais the scene was brilliant enough, but to those who had secured places at thewestern end and watched the procession as it advanced towards them, the coupdosil must have been still grander. At the opening ceremony, where the pro-cession squeezed painfully through two narrow pathways at each side, therewas nothing comparable to the splendor of the moving panorama of the pro-cession as it swept down the nave. At the Norwich gates the committees ofclasses 13,15, 16,17, 22, 30,33, 34, 35, and 36 were assembled.
