Mesolithic tranchet adze
Description
English: Probable tranchet axe, or adze head, No recortication. poor quality flint, opaque, mottled mixed grey with surviving cortex near the butt on both faces . Bifacial flaking producing an asymmetrical section, one face keeled, the other convex. The cutting edge has been sharpened with the eponymous trachet flake. Both edges of the axe are battered. Mesolithic. Length 157mm, Width 53mm, Thickness 33mm, Mass 329.5g.
