Mesolithic flint Tranceht axe
Description
English: A worked Mesolithic flint tranchet axe formed from a grey flint with stained/patinated mottled white to brown surfaces. It is plano-convex in form and of tranchet type, both faces having all over flake removal and edge retouch. One side has a marked, ridged back and the cutting edge is convex in form with flake removal and edge retouch. The butt end has a small area of cortex remaining. The entire axe measures 122.83mm in length, 48.20mm in width, 30.75mm in thickness and 202.39g in weight. It dates to the Mesolithic period, c.8,300-4,500 BC.
