Title
Mesolithic Microlith / Microburin
Description
English: A microlith, mid brown in colour with cream flecks, uni-facially retouched and expediently made.

There is much internal crazing of the flint likely due to the result of heat action and spalling has occurred on the dorsal face. There is little retouch present other than partially on at the right which is of low angle and edge type extent.

Heat action on ventral face has led to the creation of a line of weakness surrounding the bulb of percussion.

Studying the form it is possible this tool was utilised as a microburin.

Bond (2005) illustrates a similar example on p119, fig 5.103, 66 which dates to the Late Mesolithic
