Title
Mesolithic Lithic Implement Tranchet Axe
Description
English: A Mesolithic flint tranchet axe. The axe is oval in shape and a light grey colour with iron staining. A small amount of cortex remains in the centre of one side and in small patches on the side edges. It has a shallow biconvex profile, although one side edge slopes downwards, giving the profile a twisted appearance. Flakes have been removed from the surface on both sides; on one side a large flake has been removed at a possible later date, leaving a step in the side edge.
