Title
Mesolithic Flint Microburin
Description
English: A complete flint microburin of Mesolithic date (9000-3450 BC). The lithic is sub-triangular in plan and plano-convex in section. The lithic was knapped from a tertiary flake blade. Further thin flakes have been removed from the ventral surface through soft hammer percussion. The dorsal surface has much more invasive scaled retouch. The left edge near the proximal end on the ventral surface has further short semi-abrupt stepped retouch which characterises this as a microburin. Mircoburins are a by-product of microlith production from a bladelet. A notch is created in the blade, then the proximal end is broken off becoming the microburin,

The flint is a translucent light brown grey colour. The object is 13.64mm in length, 16.01mm wide, 1.69mm thick and weighs 0.57g.
