Mesolithic: Tranchet axe
Description
English: A Mesolithic tranchet axe. This axe is made out of ochre-coloured flint and has been bifacially worked. It now has a thick black covering following its depostion in a stream bed. The butt appears to have been broken diagonally.

From the same findspot is a grey and glossy secondary flake with remaining cortex. There appears to be some secondary working along one long side. (46.39 x 26.42 x 6.58mm. Wt 7.42g.)
